This is a perfect interface between 4" PVC and 4" flexible hose. I recently installed 4" PVC ducting (light wall) in my shop for dust collection. With a slight amount of sanding on the outside edge, the flared end of this fitting slides snuggly into a 4" PVC fitting and can be removed easily. The fitting is good quality. If you find it slips on a dust flange, buff the inside of the flare with sand paper.
It would be helpful if the interior of female portion of the item was made of a more flexible material so that a more secure connection could be made. Ideally you would have a rigid exterior and a softer interior.
I would reiterate what another reviewer said about wrapping the port with some duct tape. That has not been the case. I was hoping that this would save some time by not having to attach clamps each time I switched to a different machine. I did that on my planer and it seemed to help. The fit on most of my machines is not good. The connector simply slips off after a few seconds. I've gone back to taking 10 seconds and tightening the clamp each time I move to a different machine. This wasn't worth the headache for me.
This item works fine but my band saw has a cast metal saw dust port that is 4 inches so I had to add a piece of 4 inch pvc pipe to connect it to the reducer.
The quick connect is just what I needed to create my pre-collection filter on my dust collection system.
